Mainsoft for Java EE™ is an advanced
development tool that extends the high productivity of Microsoft's®
Visual Studio development environment to the Java EE platform, enabling Microsoft-skilled
developers to quickly and efficiently develop Java EE Web applications, portal
applications, and Web services.
Mainsoft for Java EE enables .NET and Java EE development teams to co-develop enterprise
class applications to run on a unified Java EE environment with optimal performance.
Mainsoft for Java EE also supports robust porting capabilities, including support
for single-source code development for the .NET and Java EE platforms and
a Visual Studio-integrated project conversion tool, which guides enterprises
and independent software vendors (ISVs) in quickly porting existing .NET code
to the Java EE platform.
Mainsoft for Java EE is available in three editions: Developer, Enterprise, and Portal.
The Developer Edition is freely available
and is designed for individual developers and for internal and small group
deployments. Developers can use Visual Studio 2008, with C# and Visual Basic,
to develop, debug, and deploy ASP.NET applications for Windows, Linux, and
any Java-enabled platform deployed on Apache Tomcat.
The Enterprise Edition is a full-feature
edition and is available with a commercial license. Enterprise developers
can use it to co-develop enterprise applications that may be deployed on multi-CPU
or clustered servers running commercial application servers such as IBM WebSphere
Application Server. The Enterprise edition is designed to allow redistribution
of Mainsoft for Java EE-based applications. The Enterprise edition supports cross-language
debugging, and provides comprehensive Java code debugging from within the
Microsoft Development Environment.
The Portal Edition includes all the
Enterprise Edition features, plus it features portal application creation
and porting for WebSphere Portal.

tool, you will find the online help at Microsoft®
Visual Studio® Developer Center to be quite helpful. If you are
